Lost Child

Lyrics

remember
remember we grew that
we bore it through holes in schedules
holes in walls
before time we laughed
knowing that we were the truth
we'll talk we came this far
tomorrow we'll still be
more than dead photographs

it was a great idea
it was a great idea
was a great idea
but never in practice

so where are you now?
when the crutches have broken
and the house has collapsed

what is left;
Pascal grew thirty by the book
and we tried, too;
just by living
and we have nothing to show
but meeting in markets
and talking on the telephone
as revisionists

now shake hands
and make up

Notes
The oldest track by the band still officially in print, "Lost Child" endures because of its poetic lyrics and experimental texture. The intricate guitar-harmony-bass part is still one of the best that the band has done to this day.
